CAT IV 600V Flexible Current Probes (Blue)

The CAT IV 600V Flexible Current Probes are high performance current sensors specifically designed as an accessory for CHK Power Quality instruments used on energised circuits and in CAT IV environments.

52 Series CAT IV 600V AC Current Clamp-On Probes

The 52 Series CAT IV 600V AC Current Clamp-On Probes are a high performance current sensor incorporating a split iron core window current transformer with low ratio and phase errors, specifically designed as an accessory for CHK Power Quality instruments used on energised circuits and in CAT IV environments.

The 52 series is suitable to use outdoors in wet and humid environments.

Tactile barriers are included on either side of the body handle and provide clearance to prevent the operator from contacting hazardous live voltages. Protective shrouds attached to the ends of the jaw openings also prevent the iron core from contacting hazardous live cables during application and removal of the clamp.

15 Series CAT III 600V AC Current Clamp-On Probes

The 15 Series CAT III 600V AC Current Clamp-On Probes are a high performance current sensor incorporating a split iron core window current transformer with low ratio and phase errors, specifically designed as an accessory for CHK Power Quality instruments and in CAT III environments.

Miniature CAT II 600V Split Core Current Transformers

The Miniature CAT II 600V Split Core Current Transformers are lightweight, portable and fitted with an internal burden (voltage output) and therefore safe to use whilst not connected to a load. They are designed for quick and easy installation without disconnecting current carrying cables.

They are sold either with unterminated flying leads or terminated to your requirements.

Applications:

  • Electric motors
  • Control and protection
  • lighting
  • Air condition equipment
  • HVAC temperature control
  • Power management
  • Building automation systems

52 Series CAT III 600V AC/DC Current Clamp-On Probes

The 52 Series CAT III 600V AC/DC Current Clamp-On Probes are high performance current converters  incorporating a Hall Effect sensor within a split core window current transformer with low ratio and phase errors, and specifically designed as an accessory for CHK Power Quality instruments and used in CAT III 600V environments.

Summation Current Transformer

When the currents in a number of feeders need not be individually metered but summated to a single meter or instrument, a summation current transformer can be used. The summation CT consists of two or more primary windings which are connected to the feeders to be summated and a single secondary winding. This secondary winding feeds a current proportional to the summated primary current. A typical ratio would be 5+5+5/5A which means that three primary feeders of 5A are to be summated to a single 5A meter. These CTs are available in 5A or 1A inputs and can be designed to have a combination of these inputs to be summated.

Interposing Current Transformer

Interposing types can be used to modify the secondary current from an existing line CT. This is useful for modifying secondary currents without replacing the line CTs.

The main function of an interposing CT is to balance the currents supplied to the relay where there would otherwise be an imbalance due to the ratios of the main CTs. Interposing CTs are equipped with a wide range of taps that can be selected by the user to achieve the balance required.

As the name suggests, an interposing CT is installed between the secondary winding of the main CT and the relay. They can be used on the primary side or secondary side of the power transformer being protected, or both. Interposing CTs also provide a convenient method of establishing a delta connection for the elimination of zero sequence currents where this is necessary.

CK1/CK5 Three Phase Current Converters

The high accuracy CK1 and CK5 Three Phase Current Transformer (CT) Converters are intended for use in substations and other locations where the standard 1A or 5A CT secondary outputs are available, e.g., at test terminal blocks.  The CK1 or CK5 transforms the 1A or 5A CT secondary output current to 200mA, suitable for direct connection to the current input channels of CHK Power Quality instruments.

CT and Voltage Clamp Installer

The Current Transformer Probe and Voltage Clamp Installer has been specially developed for use with CHK Power Quality Loggers and Analysers’ current transformer probes (52 Series) and large black voltage clamps. The installer allows the easy and convenient installation and removal of the current transformer probes and large black voltage clamps on overhead conductors, using a hot stick with a ‘sunrise’ fitting. Suitable CT probe lead extensions and extended voltage leads complete the kit.

The installation can be carried out from ground level or from an approved elevated work platform. Subsequently, users do not have to climb poles using ladders, wear safety harnesses or require another staff to standby (i.e. no need for a ‘buddy’ safety system). This allows for a one-man operation, leading to significant savings of resources.

Core Balance Current Transformer

The CBCT also known as a zero sequence CT is used for earth leakage and earth fault protection. In the CBCT, the three-core cable of three single cores of three phase systems passes through the inner diameter of the CT. When the system is fault free, no current flows in the secondary of the CBCT. When there is an earth fault, the residual current (zero phase sequence current) of the system flows through the secondary of the CBCT and this operates the relay. In order to design the CBCT, the inner diameter of the CT, the relay type, the relay setting and the primary operating current needs to be stated.

Core balance current transformers are intended for providing a very sensitive method of earth leakage protection on three-phase electrical systems with suitable relays.

Cables of all phases pass through the inner diameter of the transformer and there is no output under no-fault conditions. In the event of an earth-fault a non-zero current exist and induces a changing magnetic field within the core, which in turn generates a secondary voltage which operates a relay (via burden).

We can optimally custom-design to your specific requirements based on relay types and settings, and the required primary operating current.
